With more than 33 years as an information technology professional, Bruce has significant experience in IT management and operations. Working for a variety of Fortune 500 companies, he has established consulting practice areas, managed a variety of IT departments — including application developers, quality assurance professionals, systems and network engineers, R&D analysts, and project managers — and led efforts in establishing standards and methodologies in varying capacities.
For the past thirteen years, Bruce has been instrumental in building up an IT Outsourcing firm serving the small-to-medium business market in San Diego, CA. Known as Immaculate Technology, Bruce’s firm has built a customer base consisting of businesses in the manufacturing, publishing, retail, real estate, and medical industries. He established a level of service based on a simple concept — bring his experience and know-how of more than 20 years working in the Fortune 500 business world to the small business owners of Southern California.
Prior to establishing Immaculate Technology, Bruce held positions of Vice President of IT Architecture, and Director of eCommerce at Gateway, Inc. There he established an enterprise architecture and associated technology standards in support of global systems development and operations. Bruce also led the effort in defining a new global IT Operations support organization, defining staffing plans, organizational designs, and team roles & responsibilities. In addition, Bruce managed the infrastructure operations and application maintenance teams of Gateway’s eCommerce division. He was instrumental in establishing operational processes and procedures to ensure the proper level of rigor necessary to run the company’s customer-facing, multi-million dollar Internet Web properties.
Prior to joining Gateway, Bruce was a Vice President of one of IMRglobal’s e-business divisions, establishing a practice area that specialized in design and implementation of networking infrastructure supporting the demands of e-business solutions. In addition, he established a practice area that focused on organizational design, helping companies build organizations that are responsible for implementation of e-commerce solutions.
Bruce obtained his background and experience in eCommerce as Director of Information Technology at Tech Data Corp., the world’s second largest computer wholesale distributor. He oversaw the implementation of strategic client/server systems designed to support Tech Data’s large-scale electronic commerce applications, which facilitated sales to more than 50,000 international resellers through real-time product pricing, availability and order entry. He managed a large team of technology professionals in implementing the systems and coordinated cross-departmental implementation teams. In addition, Bruce oversaw a team of systems and network engineers responsible for the design and implementation of an information technology infrastructure for new facilities constructed by Tech Data. The infrastructure encompassed both corporate offices and large-scale distribution facilities. Bruce also established and managed strategic partnerships with telecommunications and systems vendors, resulting in significant savings in procurement and operating costs.
As Manager of Enterprise Networking for the Florida Power Corporation, a $3 billion electric utility, Bruce oversaw the planning and standards-setting process for implementing a corporate-wide strategic network architecture. He also provided consulting services to departments requiring systems design and integration. In addition, Bruce served as Manager of Integrated Technologies Architecture for Florida Power. In this capacity, he was responsible for developing a corporate-wide information technology strategy, including information technology standards used to define and guide the procurement of new technologies.
